Meet the maker
Hi, I'm April.
I'm 25 years old, I live in Iowa, and I have Down syndrome. For a long time, I tried to get hired. I filled out applications. I went to interviews. I waited.
One day I decided I'd stop waiting and just make something. I took every dollar I had saved up and bought wood, a carving knife, tiny LEDs, and batteries. Then I started making wands based on my favorite series in the whole world — Harry Potter.
Each wand is hand-carved at my little table at home. Mom helps me set up at craft fairs on the weekends. The first time someone bought one I cried happy tears for an hour.
Every wand on this website is made by me, with my own hands, for someone like you. Thank you for being here. ✶

The workshop.
A solid wooden workbench, a Dremel, a hand plane, chisels, and a pegboard wall full of every tool April's collected. The shavings pile up under the bench — that's where the wands are born.
- Every wand is hand-carved — usually 1–2 hours each
- A slim LED chain is fitted inside the acrylic tip
- April signs the bottom of every wand before it ships
